Grip Boost Gloves Review

Grip Boost Gloves Review

Do you have NFL level aspirations? Are you looking to take your game to the next level as a wide receiver on your team? Then these are the gloves for you!

We have all dealt with the shoddy pair of gloves before. You know the ones I’m talking about…the grip-less gloves that leave your hands crazy sweaty and impossible to get off?

The grip boost gloves are totally different and are exactly what you need to get to the next level! They have improved grip, ventilation, all weather durability, adjustability, and comfortability!

To give a proper review I decided to use these gloves over a several month time span to demonstrate each of their specifically listed qualities.

I played backyard football games with my friends in the heat, rain, and snow to test all features.

Let’s hop into it!

Game 1: Heat Of The Summer

This game was played during the first couple weeks of preseason when it was still very hot out. I figured this would be a great time to test the ventilation of these gloves.

I’ve had plenty of experience with gloves of other brands like Adidas and Nike, so I know what to look and feel for.

I was really impressed with the ventilation of these gloves during the heat. It may have helped that the gloves I was using were white…but I’ll give them all the benefit of the doubt.

My hands were sweaty after the game was over…but they weren’t dripping by any means. Considering the price of the gloves, I believe value is definitely there.

However, if I am being completely honest, the gloves still left me desiring more in the ventilation department. I felt they could be a little better in breathability.

From a business standpoint I understand it however, why spend anymore research in R&D when you are already the best? Still let’s see a bit more ventilation.

So, what about the grip in the heat? Grip was phenomenal and that’s probably no shock since the hotter things get the stickier they get.

I was able to ring in one hander’s much more easily than I was with other gloves and that was fairly noticeable! Many of my friends thought I had put glue on my gloves. NOPE just grip boost by itself!

Game 2: Rainy Days

Rain is a good test of any glove, will the grip leave all together? Or will it fight just as hard as you while you’re in the rain?

The grip boost gloves flat out deliver! Although some loss of grip is to be expected, and there was, it wasn’t nearly as bad as other gloves in the market. In fact, I’d argue it’s grip was better in the rain than some gloves grips are when its dry!

When I would go in for the catch there was much less slippage than there was with normal gloves.

In fact, to test this, midway through the game I actually switched to gloves of another competing brand to compare. The results were clear. The grip boost gloves would stop the ball much sooner every time.

The competing brand would have more slippage and sometimes not even stop the football and it’d go straight through my hands.

The only downside that I would have to report about these gloves were the fact that because the ventilation is much better…it’s rain retention was high.

Not a crazy big deal…but every couple minute’s in the huddle I would have to quickly take the gloves off to wring them out. But that is kind of nitpicky, I would much rather take the grip they provide all day!

Game 3: Snow day!

Ah yes, the big snow test! This one was fun! The boys and I went outside after thanksgiving and played the annual game.

For the first half of the game the gloves and I were doing great. We were catching a lot of tough passes play after play after play. But the longer the game went on the more we struggled.

Because the ventilation of the gloves is so good, it’s actually a struggle to keep heat in. By the end of the game my fingers were freezing, and I was glad to be done.

In the future I would like to see these gloves offer some sort of adjustable insulation lining for colder games.

Game 4: The Last One

At this point I had played several games, and the gloves were several weeks old. It was now time to reflect on the strength and durability of these gloves compared to other market offerings.

I am proud to announce that these gloves aren’t worse for wear! After all the heat, rain, and snow I put them through…most gloves would have been ripped to shreds, but not these!

Although some wear and tear is present, it is nothing that makes you cringe at putting them back on. In fact, I would just describe them as broken in. Just as they mention as a benefit, these are very comfortable as well!

As the backyard football season came to a close I was /  am confident that I will be able to comfortably wear these at the start of next season with no issues whatsoever!

Conclusion

All right so now it’s time for what you’ve all been waiting for. The numbers are in and the score cards are set…how did grip boost gloves do?

Heat performance 8/10: Although the grip was fantastic, the ventilation left me wanting more. It was clear they stopped short in that area when they could have pushed a bit harder.

Rain Performance 9/10: Even though it was annoying having to empty the gloves every couple of minutes, there is no question as to its grip performance. It is hands down better than any other comparable glove on the market.

Snow Performance 7/10: The grip was great…but by the end of the game my fingers were ice cold and couldn’t do much more, would like to see insulation worked on.

Strength and Durability 10/10: Hands down these are some of the best gloves on the market. The grip is uncontested, the strength of the materials is unlike any other glove, and they are so durable after having been put through every weather scenario.

The grip boost gloves have truly knocked it out of the park!

Best Grip Tape Longboard

Best Grip Tape Longboard

Did you just get a new deck? Or maybe after years of use your old grip tape has finally worn out? Whatever your case may be, you are probably wondering where to go from here.

Well you have come to the right place! I will walk you through the ins and outs about picking the best grip tape longboard for you and your needs!

Even though this may seem like a relatively easy thing to do, it can be a bit more complicated than you think. After all there are so many different options available now based on many different needs.

We know that you are looking to take your skating game to the next level, and to do that, you need to become more informed of the marketplace and its various options, pros, and cons.

That’s why we have taken the time to create this all you need to know guide about picking the best grip tape for your longboard!

We will go over some different brands and their offerings as well as answer a few frequently asked questions. Let’s hop right into it!

Black Diamond Longboard Grip Tape

If you are a beginner we can’t recommend this tape anymore than we already do! We would classify this as a premium tape simply because of how long it has been reported to last!

Some users and those who have left reviews on sites where it is being sold have reportedly had it last more than 2 years! That is absolutely incredible and a huge achievement when it comes to demonstrated quality.

Just as the name suggests it comes in black all rolled up out of the box. It is fairly adjustable and easy to make cuts. You simply cannot go wrong choosing this brand!

Quest Boards Clear Longboard Grip Tape

This one is for all the skaters who love the design on their boards and don’t want to cover up the amazing piece of artwork that it is.

One of the best things about the grip tape that our team here personally loves is that it does not sacrifice usability for aesthetics.

Most brands that offer clear grip tape will actually have less grip because of the materials they use to keep it clear.

But Quest Boards isn’t most brands! They make no sacrifices when it comes to their best longboard grip tapes. Perhaps what makes this so unique is that it was made by boarders, for boarders.

It’s design has allowed it to prevent air bubbles upon application thereby allowing a smooth finish to board and allowing the artwork on the deck to be seen without blemish.

RDVX Ultra Coarse Longboard Grip Tape

When our team was experimenting with this longboard grip tape, we were shocked and stunned. This grip tape rules! It actually let’s you get a feel for your board by conforming to your longboards concave!

It literally bends to your will!

We were extremely impressed with the brands choice of adhesive as well. Normally other brands will cheap out on it and leave lots of boards with bubbles just weeks in…however RDVX goes the distance!

This adhesive sticks better and adjusts to the board itself. That alone makes the ride down steep hills much less stressful because you know bumps that normally give you trouble are a thing of the past with grip tape like this!

Candy Grip Black Licorice

This grip tape is very unique in the sense that it has a 3-D stacking ability. Basically it will look really cool whether you’re just looking at it plainly or while you’re skating!

One of the most practical features that this grip tape has in particular is that it’s waterproof. This makes cleaning it a piece of cake when it gets dirty, and it will if you’re any real skater at all.

To clean this grip tape all that needs to be done is to take a wet wash cloth and slowly rub over the grips. The dirt will fall straight through and the grips won’t be damaged in the slightest.

This is a huge achievement by Candy Grip!

FAQ’s

How Durable Are Longboard Grip Tapes?

All the grips that I have listed you can trust as long lasting. These in particular will last 2+ years if taken care of properly.

It is worth noting that some longboard grip tapes are cheap for a reason and it’s usually because of the use of cheaper materials. However, all the brands listed here use premium materials that are long lasting. We would not have listed them here if we thought otherwise!

Another good way to check the durability of a certain grip tape is to check its reviews, most people will lay it all out there good or bad.

Are Grip Tapes Easy To Apply?

In most cases longboard grip tapes are easy to apply. However, if you are brand new, you may want to have a friend of yours help you out.

The key to applying the best grip tape on a longboard is making sure to do it smoothly so that no air bubbles appear.

Air bubbles will ruin the life of the tape because of your shoes rubbing against it constantly. If you are anxious about applying it, we recommend checking out some helpful videos on YouTube!

What Kind Of Material Is Grip Tape Made From?

Although one would guess sandpaper, and we can’t blame them for that after all, most grip tapes are made out of either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide. It all really depends on the brand you go with.

How Expensive Is Longboard Grip Tape?

Thankfully the best grip tape for longboards isn’t crazy expensive. We usually are able to find quality, durable grip tape for about $10-$15. Remember if something seems to be too good to be true it probably is. Cheap long board grip tape will be more expensive over time than the premium priced brand.

Conclusion

Young or old, beginner or pro, picking the best grip tape longboard is extremely important. We hope that this little buying guide was beneficial helped in your decision making process. Skate on!

Best Grip Tape Skateboard

Best Grip Tape Skateboard

Have you ever wanted to get the best grip tape for your skateboard but just have never known where to turn? Don’t worry bro! I got you!

There are a lot of things you need to consider when getting the best grip tape skateboard. And I’m also sure you probably have a handful of questions as well.

My little buying guide that I have put together here will go over everything you need to know and more, when it comes to buying the best grip tape for a skateboard!

Grizzly Stamp Print

This is perhaps one of the best grip tapes out there on the market today! If you are wanting a grip that is good all around this is the one for you!

The grip stays on your deck really well and the it doesn’t burn through the bottom of your shoes. This is an issue with most grip tapes because of how strong they are. However, Grizzly’s protect your shoes!

Perhaps one of the best things about this grip tape as compared to other brands is its strong adhesive. Other brands adhesive can be lower quality and bunch up and rip off…

But Grizzly’s stay on like it was the grip tape your skateboard came with! They offer most sizes for regular skateboards, but haven’t hit the long board game quite yet so if you have a long board, you’re out of luck.

MOB Grip Tape

If you are looking for the hairiest of the hairy, then this is the brand and product for you. But beware… this grip tape is not for the faint of heart. Don’t wear your favorite pair of shoes with this board!

Mob has the strongest, most aggressive grip tape in the market right now. Like the burning holes through your shoes aggressive kind.

If you do some crazy wicked tricks with your skateboard and need all the grip you can get, then this is your best choice hands down.

Fortunately, over time the grip tape will become more mellow and won’t wear out shoes nearly as bad, but if you’re looking at this product seriously then it’s worth it!

One of the best things I have personally noticed about this grip tape in particular is its strength and durability.

Most grip tapes will tear upon placement because of weak paper, however, MOB’s grip tape is much strong and does not tear as easily upon application.

Unfortunately, just like Grizzly’s, this is not yet offered for long boards yet. Sorry peeps!

Jessup Grip Tape

If you want the best grip tape skateboard that’s mellow, this brand is the one for you! It is the least aggressive tape on this list and doesn’t wear your shoes out nearly as much as the two above it.

Jessup uses a material called silicon carbide on their grip tape. The good thing about this material is that it doesn’t really flake all that much…however it doesn’t last nearly as long as MOB or Grizzly.

This is a grip tape I would recommend for beginners. It will give you a nice grip over your stock board and be that stepping stone to getting more aggressive grip tapes down the line.

The only area I will ding this brand on is its willingness or lack thereof to give back to the skating community. Grizzly and MOB always find a way to give back…COME ON JESSUP!!

Lucid Spray On Grip Tape

Just as the name suggests, this grip tape is spray on! Yes, I know it is a little different from the other tapes on this list but it’s a worth addition…here’s why!

This spray on grip tape is the worthy to be on this list simply because of its ability to be customized. Unlike the other best grip tape skateboards on this list, you can apply the grip only where you see fit.

Now this isn’t grip tape you want to be using if you’re doing all the fancy tricks, but if you are just wanting some extra grip for your cruise with the boys…then this is perfect for you!

It may not be as sharp as other grips, but it is available for any type of board since it is a spray on…and I consider that a plus!!

FAQ’s

How Do I Know What Size Grip Tape To Get?

I’m glad you asked! In most cases the brand will let you know in the product description. They will normally say something along the lines of “best grip tape skateboard” or “best grip tape longboard”.

Even though this seems like something simple, I’d be rich if I got a nickel for every time somebody ordered the wrong size grip tape. If all else fails, call the company and speak with a rep! They will be more than happy to take care of you!

Do Longboards Need Different Grip Tape?

In most cases you can use the same type of grip for your longboard, unless of course you’re a hardcore downhill skater…then you need something super aggressive.

Most grip tapes will actually work for your longboard…it’s just a matter of making sure you get the right size. Obviously if you buy a grip that doesn’t cover your whole board, it’s gonna suck.

But yeah, longboards can use the same type of grip tape skateboards use. Just make sure you are picking a grip based on your needs as a long boarder.

When Should I Change My Grip Tape?

Short answer: Almost never! Long answer: What is so awesome about grip tapes is their strength and durability. In most cases you will find that the grip tape will actually outlast the deck as long as you take care of it and clean it.

How Do I Clean Grip Tape For My Skateboard?

There are a couple different options here. You could go out and buy a true grip cleaner online. They are fairly cheap. It’s simply just a piece of rubber that gets in-between the grips and gets the dirt out.

A Forrest Gump at home option would be the old tooth brush cleaner. The tooth brush is a great at home cleaning option because its bristles are able to get between even the smallest gaps and get the dirt out.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the best grip tape skateboard is a fun experience. Enjoy it! I hope this helped make your decision a little bit easier. Good luck!

Best AR 15 Pistol Grip

Best AR 15 Pistol Grip

If you are thinking of building an AR-15  a choosing a pistol grip is probably one of the first things that has crossed you mind. Likewise, you may have just bought your new rifle and are already looking to upgrade just like everyone else.

However, going out and shopping for the best grip can be strenuous and time consuming considering that there are so many good offerings out on the market.

There are so many great options on the market, it really is tough to point to just one as being the best. In fact, to be completely honest…you can’t go wrong with any of the big-name brands. Their quality is amazing!

Aftermarket grips are made from high-quality, long-lasting, and crazy good ergonomic materials. So to be completely transparent…choosing the best ar 15 pistol grip is more than likely to come down to personal taste.

That being said, there are definitely some things you need to consider when buying your ar 15 pistol grip. I think I’ve outlined all the big points down below, and I’ve gone ahead and taken the time to develop a list of my top 5 personal best ar 15 pistol grips.

Let’s dive right into it!

Things To Consider When Picking Your Pistol Grip!

Let’s first not forget that the main reason for a pistol grip is so that your hand will be slightly forward and allow you to operate the rifle in a way that stable. Beyond this however, there are certain things to consider when choosing one grip over the other as not all grips have the same intended use.

The first thing to especially consider is the situation of your setup. What I mean is, is the gun going to be a one off showsy type of ar 15? Or is it going to be used by you on a daily basis.

If the gun is going to be used on a daily basis, I suggest looking for a smooth grip that has the versatility to be used every day under heavy stress environments.

However, if the rifle is just going to be used at the range or displayed at a show and conference every couple weeks…then you can probably forego practicality and go for whatever looks the coolest!

Either way you decide to go, it’s going to come down to you and your own personal style. However, let’s dive a little bit deeper into these considerations. Starting with comfort and Ergonomics!

Comfort

Ergonomics is absolutely huge when it comes to picking the grip for your ar 15! The rifle needs to be fitted with a grip that is specifically designed for what you are going to use it for. Here’s a list of things to compare when thinking about your intended use:

  • Reduced grip vs standard grip
  • Hard finished or rubberized
  • Material grade
  • Hand size (this is huge…or small. Pun intended)
  • Smooth texturing or grippy
  • Glove usage vs non glove usage
  • No finger grooves vs finger grooves

What I am looking to do for my personal best ar 15 hand grip is one that has finger grooves, is rubberized, and has grippy texturing.

This will be a gun that I will use at the range and it will be comfortable enough for me to shoot rounds upon rounds without tiring out. You’d be surprised just how much more tired a different grip will make you out on the range.

Grip Type and Finger Grooves

These two are super important. I think everyone can agree that they like enough of a grip to their ar 15 that makes them feel as if the gun is going to leave their hands. However, too much of a grip can be a bad thing.

Speaking from personal experience it can be really uncomfortable when you are having to move constantly with the rifle, especially when you don’t have gloves.

But, I’d be lying if I said everyone loves grip-less rifles. Nobody does haha. The truth is that there has to be balance, it can’t be too aggressive or else it’ll cut up your hands. It can’t be too smooth or it’ll be hard to hold on to.

Finger grooves are another point on the list.

Some people really love finger grooves because the feel as if the grip is fitting them like a glove.

Others don’t like finger grooves nearly as much.

Personally, I love strong grips and big finger grooves, I recommend the hogue and ergo grips.

Value And Quality

I think we can all admit here that we do not want to be the guy who buys the cheapest grip and get laughed out of the range, but we also don’t want to be that guy who always buys the most expensive brand name grip just to say we have it.

The good news is that even the best grips won’t break the bank and on top of that, almost every company is trusted to use the best sorts of materials so you don’t have to worry about anything eve breaking on you.

So, What Are My Top 5 AR 15 Pistol Grips?

  • Hogue OverMolded: This is without a doubt my number 1 choice this pistol grip is insanely ergonomic because of its rubberized finish, finger grooves, and palm swells!
  • Tangodown BG-17: This is one of my favorite grips if I am going for simplicity. The design isn’t busy and it’s more practical then anything else. If you are looking for a comfortable daily, this one’s for you!
  • Magpul Miad: This grip is my third choice because of its ability be modified in and of itself, you can change out the cores and it even gives you some lube for ease of attachment!
  • BCM Gunfighter MOD-3: This one made the list because of it’s incredible practicality. The grip actually has a weather-proof storage compartment at the bottom of it. You can’t store much…but hey, it’s the thought that counts! It is also extremely comfortable.
  • MAGPUL MOE-K2: This grip is very simple and laid back. It has a finger groove right at the index finger. The only downside is the discomfort the strap it comes with causes after long usage.

Hand Grip Exercise Before And After

Hand Grip Exercise Before And After

If you are anything like me, you might be wondering to yourself: Huh I wonder if all those grip strengtheners and exercises have any benefit?

You’re also probably wondering why you don’t see a lot of people talking about them on the web as far as before and after’s go.

The reason is that the results aren’t as shocking as maybe, let’s say, benching for example. Hand grip exercises are the lost exercise because many have no idea how beneficial they are.

For example, did you know that by strengthening your grip, you will come across as more authoritative to people?

Lol all boss jokes aside let’s dive right in and take a serious look what hand grip exercise before and after look like!

For one month I dedicated roughly 15-20 minutes a day to working on hand grip exercises and made a short journal after every workout about it. To test my progress, I would take a benchmark dead hang time at the beginning and the end of the month.

My starting dead hang time was just 30 seconds.

To grow the strength I wanted, I made a routine of 5x20 grips, 3x20 wrist curls, and 3x20 wrist extensions.

Day 1:

This first workout session was brutal by the end of it I struggled to even pick up my water bottle. Safe to say I over worked my forearms.

Day 2:

The second work out wasn’t too much better my arms were sore from the day before but I stuck to the same reps and sets.

Day 3:

The third day showed some progress I was actually able to add a rep to all my sets and my forearms started to feel pumped a little bit.

Day 4:

The fourth day I was able to get through all the exercises without feeling as though my forearms were being put through the shredder.

Day 5:

On the fifth workout day I found that I needed to start adding more resistance as my noob phase was now over.

Day 6:

Test day: I added 5 seconds to my dead hang time

Day 7:

Rest

Day 8:

During the weekend I went out and bought 150lb hand grip strengtheners…upgrading 50lbs over my starting point. I kept the sets and reps the same as when I started.

Day 9:

Forearms became more sore once again, but it was a manageable sore…it felt almost, do I dare say, good?

Day 10:

After my first set of wrist curls feeling super easy I decided to move 5lbs up in weight and try to get the same amount of reps…however I was one rep shy on the second set and two reps shy on the third.

Day 11:

Because of the increased weight my forearms were definitely sore and this time they didn’t feel like a good sore, I think I pulled something :/

Day 12:

I took today a little lighter because of how my muscle felt right above the wrist…the workout went smoothly and I felt like it was productive.

Day 13:

Test day: this week I only increased my hang time by 3 seconds…I think my sore wrists had something to do with it.

Day 14:

Rest day

Day 15:

After a solid day of rest I decided to hit the grips hard, and boy did I! I was able to add an extra rep to all my sets. Time to increase the weight!

Day 16:

I went to the store and bought new hand grip strengtheners, these were 200lbs of resistance. When I did the workout I hit a whole brick wall stopping 4 reps short on each set.

Day 17:

This day went a little better, I only stopped 2 reps shy of my goal of reps per set…but my forearms felt super pumped!

Day 18:

Starting to notice some vascularity in my forearms and the size is beginning to be noticeable. I hit all my sets and reps today!

Day 19:

Both arms are beginning to feel much stronger, my deadlift has actually been feeling quite a bit easier. The benefits of the hand grip exercise are beginning to be noticeable in every exercise I do.

Day 20:

Test day: I increased a whole 7 seconds on dead hang this week!

Day 21:

Rest day

Day 22:

Keeping the weight the same this week, but adding a whole extra set. I was able to get 15 reps on each of the extra sets.

Day 23:

Went to the store with my pipe and a sailors hat and had a little kid call me Popeye. Exercises went well.

Day 24:

Decided to drop the sets back down to normal but increase the weight once more. Started using 250lb hand grip strengtheners.

Day 25:

Couldn’t quite get the same amount of reps but I was really close only missing them by 1 each sets.

Day 26:

Becoming really happy with the results I am seeing

Day 27:

Test day: Increased dead hang by 8 more seconds bringing my 4 week total to 45 seconds! A 50% increase!

Day 28:

Rest day:

Results:

The strength gains were noticeable and my progress was pretty impressive as well. I am not specially athletic or anything so I believe that anyone, if they try, can achieve the same results I did.

As far as size goes I was honestly pretty impressed. The results aren’t anything that will stay once you stop…but its real solid sarcoplasmic muscle growth which is just a “pump”.

One of the hand grip exercise before and after benefits was how I was able to condition my forearms. They used to be so sore after gripping anything for an extended period of time, but now they aren’t!

If you are considering adding hand grip exercises to your workout to increase the strength and size in your forearms, I couldn’t recommend it more!

The results really do speak for themselves and it doesn’t add a terrible amount of time to your workout. You can either add it in to the warm up and the beginning or as a finisher at the end! Good luck and have fun!

Hand Grips Benefits

Hand Grips Benefits

Have you ever wondered: “hmmm what can I do to make my wrists and forearms a little stronger?”, well pay attention because this one’s for you!

Hand grip exercises can be extremely beneficial and even help you progress on your other lifts you work on as well…namely deadlift and pullups.

Throughout this short article I am going to be touching on the hand grips benefits and why you should consider adding these as a regular part of your workout routine.

Let’s start with some of the obvious benefits, shall we?

Your forearms will get stronger which will lead to increased weights on deadlift and reps on pullups

Your forearms will increase their “pain tolerance” when gripping or squeezing the bars or dumbbells

Your fingers will become stronger as well!

Now what are some not so obvious ones that you’ll also find beneficial as time goes on?

Making A Good First Impression

Although this one is so simple and so basic, it is widely forgotten. This is not taught so much more anymore but it used to be taught that men ought to have a firm handshake. A strong grip is a natural sign of confidence and it demands that you be taken seriously!

Opening Jars Around The House

We’ve all seen it right? The stereotypical TV scene where the woman has to have the man open the jar or maybe the guy is made the butt end of the joke because he can’t open a jar…either way it’d be beneficial for you to be able to open things when needed.

It could also be that you’re all about feminism and not wanting a man to open the jar for you so you can fight the patriarchy. If that’s the case, then as the strong woman you are it would be beneficial to add these to your routine as well!

Playing Sports At All Levels Of Competition

You could be a high school, college, or professional athlete…whatever you may be, grip strength is imperative for success.

Don’t believe me?

Imagine you’re playing basketball…there’s 10 seconds left in the game and your team is up by 2…the opposing team shoots a 3 to go for the win but they miss! You rebound but their center is huge and could rip the ball from you and score to put it in over-time…will you be strong enough to hold onto the ball?

Or what about football?

Grip strength is crazy important in football, especially the higher the level in which you participate. When you are a running back you have to hold on to the ball for dear life so you don’t get stripped!

Or when you are a wide receiver and you have to stop the zinger of a pass the quarterback is trying to fit through the small window of time.

How about bowling?

This one may fly under the radar quite a bit…but grip strength is crazy important in bowling! I mean think about it, you have to hold a 10+ pound ball all the way through your swing perfectly!

Being A Strong Parent

We’ve all seen it, some of us may have even lived it already, you know what I’m talking about right? Having to drag your kid away kicking and screaming from the park or even the toy section at the store?

Or what about giving your daughters prom date such a firm handshake that he won’t even think about pulling any smooth moves.

Whatever the case may be, strong hand grips benefits you as a parent because they let your kids, and their dates, know who the real person in charge is!

Walking Your Good Boy

Everybody has been in this situation. You’re out walking your dog on a nice day and then BOOM out of nowhere a squirrel shows up and your dog takes off after it and he gets loose because you weren’t strong enough to hold on tight to the leash.

When you start working on your grip strength, that will never happen again. You’ll be strong enough to keep your hold on to the leash the next time a random squirrel crosses your path.

So Where Do You Go From Here?

Now that we know why hand grips are beneficial, you’re probably wondering what you can do to start increasing that strength.

The first thing you can do is buy a set of hand grip strengtheners!

There are many different brands available and they all work pretty much the same way. The main difference you’ll find is the level of weight resistance available.

If you are a beginner to working out and strength training in general, I would recommend starting out with a light adjustable hand gripper that goes from 20-150lbs. These are perfect for beginners!

But let’s say you’re intermediate or advanced…I would recommend getting a set of heavy grippers that have 200+ pounds of resistance. This will help increase your strength tremendously!

Ok So Now I Know The Equipment To Get…But What Types Of Exercises Should I Do?

If you have hand grip strengtheners, I would recommend adding 3 sets of 20 and eventually work your way up to 5 sets of 20. This will build up your strength and your forearm endurance.

No longer will your forearms be burning after pullups or deadlifts!

Another exercise that you can do is the wrist curl. It is done exactly how it sounds. Simply pick up a dumbbell and curl it in your hand. This exercise really simulates the squeeze and stretches your forearm a bit more.

Now for the reverse wrist curl! I perform these in 3 sets of 12 reps. Reverse wrist curls workout the top of your forearm which many people neglect. This will most definitely give you an all-around advantage.

Lastly, good old-fashioned farmer walks. There is almost no exercise that is more practical for wrist and forearm strength than the farmers walk. It shifts the weight in the wrists with every step!

Now that we have talked about the hand grips benefits and what exercises you need to get there, you are prepared to go out there and crush it! *But not peoples hands…that’s not cool *lol*
